Before You Send That Email
Yes, I read every email. Honest. If you take the time to write it (and it's not spam), I'll read it. But I stop reading when...
- ...you ask how much I spent. Cause it's kinda rude.
- ...you ask how much specific things cost. There's lots of ways to find those answers without even getting up from the computer.
- ...you ask me to plan your trip/life for you. There are plenty of fine travel agents and guide books for that. But of course, no matter what anyone tells you, your most memorable experiences will be the ones you discover for yourself. Instead of asking my advice, it makes me much happier when people say "I am going to go explore the world and you had something to do with that." That's a very nice thing to hear.
- ...you reprimand me for not dancing where you live. I enjoy polite requests. In fact, even if you're emailing about something else, please let me know where you are. But it's a big planet, and the videos aren't really about where you live. They're about where you don't.
- ...you ask me what my favorite place is. It's a perfectly harmless question, but as you can imagine, I get it a lot -- and I don't really have a good answer for it.
Those are the big five. Also, you don't really have to list all the places you've been for me. I will believe you if you say you're well-traveled. And if you're not, I won't think any less of you.
Please don't send me gigantic attachments. Links are preferred, but if you do attach something, please make sure it's compressed.
I don't do sponsorship referrals and I don't have any tips on how to get one. My only advice is to go out and do something nifty.
I sometimes get asked to do endorsements, speaking engagements, and other appearances. I welcome those inquiries and will forward them along to people who help me manage that stuff.
If English is not your first language, don't worry. But if you were raised with it, you should know how to use it. I deduct points for spelling and grammar.
The song "Praan" from the 2008 video is available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon MP3. The "Sweet Lullaby" remix from the 2006 video isn't. Messy legal stuff. Can't be helped.
I used to have a place on this site where you could sign up to receive an invitation when I'm dancing in your area. I may put it up again someday, but for now, you can just send me an email mentioning where you live and I'll file it away.
I do read everything, as I mentioned, but the odds of a response are pretty slim. Like maybe 5% on a slow day. I like being easy to contact, but I don't have time to get back to everyone. If you're really itching for a response, just say something nice or interesting or ask me a question I can answer quickly. Even then, no promises.
Got all that? Great. Now I look forward to reading your email.
